About Kyla

Kyla Markland is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. She specializes in a holistic approach to nutrition that honours each client’s mind, body and soul. Kyla’s qualifications and experience include delivering results in Preventative Nutrition, Mental Health, Pediatric Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Allergies and Alternate Dietetics.  

In addition to her nutritional expertise, Kyla has experience in the physical fitness sector as a Fitness and Wellness Coach. Combining these two passions and formal qualifications helps Kyla provide a multidisciplinary approach to care that helps clients see success on a variety of levels. Kyla also has additional specializations that help her better serve her clients. She is a Kettle Bell Trainer, Schwinn Cycling Trainer, Bosu Trainer and Meditation Instructor. 

Kyla’s chosen career path has been focused on self-reflection and acquiring knowledge in many areas, ultimately leading her to this present moment where she is well-suited to serve a wide variety of clientele. Her personal journey and commitment to a holistic approach for her own health has forever changed her life. Kyla’s passion and dedication to helping her clients find happiness and health, is a direct result of her own experiences.

Kyla’s recommendations will include the most appropriate nutritional and lifestyle assessments, mindset transformations and supplementary support specifically tailored to each client’s needs. With over 15 years’ experience in health and wellness, Kyla is able to provide each client with a comprehensive plan to meet their individual goals and needs. Kyla helps each client become their own health advocate. Her goal is always centered around restoring vitality and empowering each client to make informed decisions. Kyla’s programs focus on healthy whole foods, improving digestion, better sleep habits, stress management techniques, as well as the importance of making better long-term choices for one’s health.

What is holistic nutrition?

Holistic nutrition is a complimentary healthcare profession that does not take a one-size fits all approach when it comes to nutrition.  Instead a holistic nutritionist looks at a person as a unique individual and provides nutritional recommendations based on a complete health history, lifestyle, environmental factors, genetics and current diet habits to understand the root causes of issues concerning one’s health.

Understanding the connection between mind, body and spirit is also an important aspect of holistic nutrition as we not only nourish our bodies with food, but also our mind and spirit.  Holistic nutrition is all about eating healthy food as close to its natural state as possible and incorporating foods that are unrefined, unprocessed, organic, and locally grown. The basic principle of holistic nutrition is that food is not only fuel, but medicine to the body.

Having lived a happy and healthy life, I am passionate about helping people achieve the same. I have been dedicated to helping people live healthy lives for 15 years, providing inspiration and motivation to connect you with your dreams and goals for a happy and healthy life. 

I use a holistic approach to nutrition, and combine both spiritual and physical dynamics in my philosophy. Connecting with our emotions love, kindness and choice enables us to nourish the elements required for a healthy lifestyle.

Assessment and Treatment

Nutritional Consulting

Nutrition sessions are private appointments to work with your Holistic Nutritionist on your personal health goals. Whether you want to book a single session, or a package, Kyla will work with you at your own pace and in a style that suits you best.

FREE Phone Consultation (15 minutes)
This complimentary introductory session is intended for those who want to learn how a holistic nutritionist can help them reach their optimal health, nutrition and lifestyle goals. Come to this session with your questions for Kyla!

Initial Consultation

The Initial Consultation is the first step in working together. You will receive the information and support you need to be successful in achieving your goals. And when you leave with your plan, you will feel confident and excited to embark on your transformation!

Session 1: Intake Session (60 minutes)
In this full health history and assessment we will explore your health goals, nutritional concerns, your lifestyle, food preferences, schedule and all other relevant information needed to create a customized nutrition plan for you.

 

Session 2: Plan Delivery (60 minutes)
This second session is designed to review your nutritional plan together. Kyla will go over your individualized plan, which will include dietary and lifestyle recommendations, a 3-week meal plan, supplement recommendations, recipes and other tools to help you achieve your goals. 

Follow-Up Sessions

Follow-up visits are for providing additional support as you move through achieving your goals. During these visits, you strategize with Kyla about how to overcome any obstacles you may be experiencing, work on learning new skills, and also create new health goals.

Follow-Up Sessions (45 minutes)
Follow-up nutritional consulting sessions may be booked on an as-needed basis to provide additional support. These sessions can be conducted in-person at We Thrive, or virtually.

Grocery Shopping Tour
During the grocery shopping tour, we navigate the aisles of your grocery store together. You will learn how to interpret food labels and how to shop for the produce and nutritious foods that best meet your nutritional needs.

Weekly Meal Planning 
Do you live a busy lifestyle? Let Kyla help you ease the pressure by creating a 7 day, 28-day or 3-month meal plan for you. Your detailed program will include recipes and a grocery list allowing more time for you!!

In-Kitchen Cooking Sessions (2.5 hours)
Do you struggle to prepare nutritious meals at home? Are there ingredients that you wish you knew more about? During this in-home session, Kyla will teach you how to prepare nutritious meals that will best fit your lifestyle.

Nutrition Packages

Making dietary and lifestyle change is a long-term commitment. Choosing to book a Nutrition Package ensures that you get the support you need to make changes that last. Set yourself up for success by committing to work with Kyla for a significant period of time AND save money by bundling services in a package.

Payment Options

HST is charged on all types of holistic nutrition appointments. Payment options include Cash, Debit, Visa or MasterCard.

Insurance Coverage: Some insurance companies offer complete or partial coverage for holistic nutrition visits. **Please check with your insurance provider.** 
Unfortunately direct billing is not available for holistic nutrition.

Additional Costs: The cost of any recommended equipment or resources is not included in the visit fee.
