Dr. Leslie Keating, ND – was the first practitioner to join our vibrant and loving team here at We Thrive. She saw the vision for what We Thrive could be, and signed up before the centre was even open.
She practiced what she referred to as “wise woman medicine” – a holistic style of natural healthcare deeply rooted in herbal medicine, that focuses on helping each person discover the root causes of their pain and suffering – to bring about lasting, and transformative healing and change.
In 2020, Leslie passed away unexpectedly. Each year, we invite our community to honour her with us, to keep her memory and her legacy alive. This year we have chosen to host a tribute event, that we know she would love.
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
In 2019, Leslie Keating taught a Fire Cider workshop at our centre, and our community loved it. Now years later, Tamara, a friend and colleague of Leslie’s, will join us at We Thrive to offer her wisdom and knowledge, with a Fire Cider workshop of her own.
Join Herbalist, Tamara Segal, of Hawthorn Herbals for a workshop on the art of making herbal vinegars for home use. Fire cider is a classic, tasty winter infusion of warming, immune-enhancing herbs extracted in raw apple cider vinegar. Herbs are extracted in vinegar to preserve their healing properties, and make them easily accessible for health support.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the art of creating herbal vinegars of different types, including fire cider. We’ll talk about the medicinal, nutrient and flavour qualities of various herbs that extract well in vinegar. Each participant will then craft their own herbal vinegar brew to take home.
The proceeds from this workshop will go towards a Scholarship Fund in Leslie’s honour, to send a student to study with Tamara on her farm in Prince Edward County, where Leslie spent time and furthered her own studies in herbal medicine.
There are a few different ticket options for this workshop, to make this workshop as accessible as possible. Please contribute at whatever level feels comfortable to you.
Thank you, thank you xo.
