Mindful Kids – Series 1 is a 5-week hands-on series that teaches mindfulness skills to children, aged 5-8. This is an innovative and groundbreaking program in the Quinte area, facilitated by Alicia Preston, an experienced Educational Assistant and owner of Sunrise Malas.
Learning mindfulness techniques at a young age sets forward a path of assuredness, good decision-making, emotional maturity and self-confidence – as children learn the life skills of dealing with distraction, overwhelm, anxiety and uncertainty. When children bring more mindfulness into their daily routine, the result is increased self-regulation, decreased stress at home and school, and boosted self esteem.

Week 2: Finding Your Base & Staying There – Mindful Breathing
Week 3: Mind Jar & The Art of Stopping – Mindful Emotions & Mindful Breathing
Week 4: Balloons! & Drop It Down the Hole – Mindful Emotions
Week 5 Things That Make You Go Mmmm – Mindful Eating
