Mindful Kids is a 5-week hands-on series that teaches mindfulness skills to children, aged 5-10.
This is an innovative and groundbreaking program in the Quinte area, facilitated by Alicia Preston, an experienced Educational Assistant and owner of Mindful Roots.
Learning mindfulness techniques at a young age sets forward a path of assuredness, good decision-making, emotional maturity and self-confidence – as children learn the life skills of dealing with distraction, overwhelm, anxiety and uncertainty.
When children bring more mindfulness into their daily routine, the result is increased self-regulation, decreased stress at home and school, and boosted self esteem.
This series will explore mindfulness techniques through creative play, expression, and yoga. Learning mindfulness techniques at a young age sets forward a path of assuredness, good decision-making, emotional maturity, and self-confidence – as children learn the life skills of dealing with distraction, overwhelm, anxiety and uncertainty.
Kids will learn how to tame big emotions and be given the tools to help them understand the way that their minds, bodies, and breath work together for boosted feel-good energy. Children will become engaged through expressive play and feel connected and supported by their peers learning compassion towards self and others, increased self esteem and confidence, and compassion. There will be laughter, smiles, ah-ha moments and lots of fun here!
Kids Yoga will promote the foundational principles of “adult” yoga with the added element of fun! We will dance, laugh, sing and move our way through a magical yoga adventure, journeying through mindfulness games and tools, stories and songs that encourage:
