Join AnnMarie Wolf for this 4-week chair yoga series for older adults who want to remain active and vital.
Everyone (all ages and abilities) can aim to move, and move more often, while also adhering to the important health recommendation to engage in strength and balance exercise. If you want to incorporate more movement into your daily routine and alleviate discomfort, this chair yoga class is the one for you. You will build functional strength and flexibility regardless of your fitness level. The class is designed to help you maintain your independence for as long as possible, whether it’s doing household chores such as gardening, carrying groceries, or climbing stairs.
Chair yoga exercises include easily implemented activities to maintain and develop the flexibility, strength and balance required to offset the effects of limited physical activity. During this class you will learn how to be guided by sensation instead of expectation, thereby opening the door to all possibilities. There will be opportunity to learn to modify asanas up or down a notch based on the experience and intuition the arises in the present moment.
The yoga class sequence will challenge your body and mind to align and listen more deeply, and the confidence of the inner yogi will be free to emerge. A dedicated yoga practice will facilitate your ability to improve at the achievable pace of one magic millimeter at a time. Over the course of a year, that adds up to a lot of improvement. Don’t forget the bonus benefit that yoga is also surprisingly useful for helping improve mood and reset a foggy brain.
