Join us for The Everyday Yoga and Mindfulness for Educators Workshop, a hands-on day that coaches educators to bring mindfulness into their daily classroom routine.
** Please note, this workshop is open to all genders.
Are you a teacher, facilitator, or educator wanting to teach children to bring more calm and peace into their day? Do you deal with children who feel anxious or irritable and you wish had the tools and techniques to increase their capacity to be more mindful? Are you interested in learning meditation and mindfulness exercises that have been created specifically for children? Are you looking to incorporate mindfulness into your own personal life for a better work/life balance to avoid burnout? Yes? Then this workshop is for you!
Educators will discover how yoga and mindfulness can relieve stress, burnout, and anxiety by helping you better manage the complex demands of life and classroom management as well as how popular yoga poses, breathing games and relaxation techniques can help children with self-regulation skills. Participants will have a chance to engage in personal reflection to effectively deal with stress and negativity and learn a variety of tools to combat compassion fatigue. Participants will have the chance to create their very one Mala Bead Breathing Bracelet and learn the benefits of self-love and self-care.
Educators will learn the language of mindfulness for kids, and how to apply mindfulness in classroom routines through games and activities for children. This workshop is primarily tailored for Primary and Junior levels but will provide tools to accommodate students in Intermediate and Highschool levels.
The most popular yoga poses will be taught, along with breathing games and relaxations for children of all ages. Educators will learn how to create ‘yoga moments’ for their classrooms through physical literacy.
This is an innovative and groundbreaking program in the Quinte area, facilitated by Alicia Preston, an experienced Educational Assistant, D.S.W, Autism and Behavior Specialist and Mindfulness Instructor/Educator and owner of Mindful Roots.

Learning mindfulness techniques and self-regulation skills at a young age sets forward a path of assuredness, good decision-making, emotional maturity, and self-confidence – as children learn the life skills of dealing with distraction, overwhelm, anxiety and uncertainty.
When children bring more mindfulness into their daily routine, the result is increased self-regulation, decreased stress at home and school, and boosted self-esteem.
