Yin yoga is a slow-paced and gentle style of yoga that focuses on stretching and strengthening the connective tissues in the body, particularly the fascia, ligaments, and joints. It is a passive form of yoga where poses are typically held for an extended period, ranging from 1 to 5 minutes or longer, allowing you to relax and release tension in the muscles.
Adding a Yin, quieter aspect to your healthy lifestyle practice can introduce you to the possibility of physical/emotional/mental equilibrium by offsetting the more intense aspects of life. When you feel that life is more intense than would you like it to be, the ancient art of tuning in to the internal softer aspects of your Yin nature is often the healing direction that your mind and body craves. Yin will affect your physical body in ways that may surprise you.
A regular Yin yoga practice will help you to evolve your ability to open up and connect with your life/yoga experience as it is, rather than holding on to resistance.
