During a hypnosis session, you are guided into a deeply relaxed and receptive state where you experience heightened focus and concentration. It is in this state that suggestions are given to your subconscious mind to positively influence your behaviours, thoughts and feelings, and to ultimately bring about desired effects in your life.

Hypnosis provides a pathway to access the subconscious mind, circumventing the conscious mind. Within our subconscious lie memories and emotions that have a substantial impact on our daily choices, decisions and behaviours—oftentimes operating beyond our conscious awareness.

Hypnosis serves as a tool to empower control over undesirable behaviours and enhance coping mechanisms for anxious feelings, physical pain, stress, or sleep issues. Additionally, it offers a profoundly relaxing experience, fostering a sense of calm and peace in the body, mind and spirit.

It’s important to know that although you’re more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you don’t lose control over your behavior. Trust is built between you and your practitioner before entering a hypnotic state, and you are fully aware during the whole process.

Certified Consulting Hypnotist

Carrie’s passion for yoga, and in particular, guided meditation, brought her to the study of hypnosis and HypnoBirthing®. Her relaxed energy and soothing voice leads clients into a deep state of inner calm where they can tap into their own inner wisdom and address what is challenging them. Carrie is Certified with the National Guild of Hypnotists as a Consulting Hypnotist, as well as a HypnoBirthing® Instructor. She has been helping people improve their lives with hypnosis since 2015, and has recently certified to practice Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT®) developed by the late Dolores Cannon in the 1960’s. Carrie is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) and enjoys leading slow flow and yin classes at We Thrive. In both her yoga classes and hypnosis sessions, she encourages people to connect with their inner messenger and learn how to nurture from within to make positive changes in their lives. Her love of healing comes from the profound personal transformations she has experienced over the years in her own life and witnessed in her clients and students.

Structure of Your Care

The plan for your hypnosis care with Carrie will be created to meet your needs, and will include the following elements.

In this initial session, Carrie will explore your motivation for seeking hypnosis. She will help you understand how hypnosis works and how it will help you address your treatment goals. The two of you will make an initial plan for working together. This session is 20 minutes long and takes place over the phone. | 20-Minute Phone Consult – $0

Carrie will obtain your informed consent before working with you. Informed consent means that she has explained the proposed plan for your sessions, any risks and benefits, and that you’ve had a chance to ask questions. As the client, you can choose to stop, or request changes to your plan at any time, for any reason. You should always feel empowered to ask questions and raise any concerns you may have before, during or after your hypnosis sessions. 

This first visit will focus on your main goal for your sessions. Carrie will use a hypnosis script designed to lead you into a deeply relaxed state, where cues and suggestions will be offered to your subconscious mind to shift and change the beliefs and ideas you hold that are limiting you. Carrie uses a very gentle and soothing approach, that will help you feel at ease during the session.  60 minutes | $110 (+HST)

The number of hypnosis sessions you do with Carrie will depend on your presenting concerns, and your goals for hypnosis. After your first visit, Carrie will help you determine when to return for more follow-up. The structure of follow-up visits is the same as your first. You will be guided into a deeply relaxed state, where Carrie will give your subconscious mind cues and suggestions to help you shift and change your thoughts and behaviours in a positive way. 60 minutes | $90 (+HST)

Depending on the plan you and Carrie undertake, there may be an opportunity to listen to a downloadable hypnosis track each night at bedtime. This option is part of the Mindful Eating Hypnosis Program and the Smoking Cessation Hypnosis Program. Also, with the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique®, your session is audio recorded and emailed to you to support reflection and growth.

When it comes to our relationship to food, our emotions and our beliefs impact our choices and behaviours, moment-to-moment. QHHT® is a revolutionary hypnosis technique, developed by world renowned Dolores Cannon in the late 1960’s, through her decades of experience with thousands of clients. This technique can help you access your subconscious (Higher Self), the part of you where your knowledge is stored.

Guided by Carrie, you will tap into your own wisdom and healing capabilities. It’s an experience where your answers lie within, providing information for your healing and evolutionary development.

All QHHT® sessions are recorded and generally only one session is needed. The recording can be used as guidance to move forward on your life path. It is a very safe, loving and transformative experience. A remarkable way to awaken to your inner wisdom. Sessions run up to 4 hours, or as long as is necessary.

      Smoking Cessation Hypnosis Program

      One of the key benefits of hypnosis for smoking cessation is that it can help with both the physical and mental/emotional aspects of smoking. By working with the subconscious mind, hypnosis may help you overcome the physical cravings, as well as the emotional and mental barriers that may be standing in the way of your success.

      During hypnosis sessions for smoking cessation, Carrie will guide you into a relaxed and receptive state of mind, where she will help you visualize a future without smoking, tap into your inner motivations for quitting, and help you uncover lingering cravings, triggers or unconscious motivations for smoking, that might otherwise be challenging your efforts to quit.

      What happens during a hypnosis session?

      During your Complimentary Phone Consult, Carrie will explain the process of hypnosis and review your goals. She will ask you to describe what changes you want to make, and how you want to feel differently after hypnosis. She will listen carefully to extract affirming words and positive imagery about your goals to use in the hypnosis script for your next session.

      Then during your first hypnosis session, Carrie will ask you to lay down comfortably on a massage table so that you can relax. She will guide you using a gentle, soothing tone to guide you deeper, and deeper into relaxation using the customized hypnosis script she created for you. She will suggest breathing exercises and imagery to create a sense of calm, safety and well-being. The experience is similar to listening to a guided meditation.

      When you’re in a deep, receptive state, Carrie will suggest ways for you to achieve your goals, she will describe a future where you are free from the limitations you are challenged by, she will help you visualize vivid and meaningful mental images of yourself accomplishing your goals.

      When the session is over, Carrie will guide you gently out of the deep state of relaxation, bringing you back to full waking consciousness. Then the two of you will discuss your experience, and any next steps for your care plan.

      Will I still be in control of myself?

      Yes. Contrary to how hypnosis is sometimes portrayed in movies or on television, you don’t lose control over your behavior while under hypnosis. You will be able to hear Carrie guiding you deeper into a relaxed state, and you will remain aware throughout the session of where you are and what is happening. 

      Can everyone be hypnotized?

      Most people can enter a state of hypnosis, however some people are more receptive and comfortable with the process than others. Some people may not be able to enter a state of hypnosis fully enough to make it effective. Carrie has some diagnostic exercises she will do early in the process to determine your receptivity to hypnosis. The more likely you are to reach a deep state of hypnosis, the more likely you are to benefit from the process.

      What does hypnosis feel like?

      Have you ever “become really absorbed” while watching TV? Or driven to work on “auto pilot?” These are examples of the same kind of altered state as hypnosis. It’s like when you watch a movie. You are relaxed and focused at the same time. You’ve tuned out the rest of the world and are involved in the story. So much so, that your body reacts to things happening on the screen and feels them as if they were real. Consciously you know it’s just light on a screen but your subconscious registers the emotions.

      How do I prepare for my session?

      There is no special preparation needed for a hypnosis session. Although it can be helpful to wear comfortable clothing, to help you relax. It can also help to be well slept (if possible), to prevent you from falling asleep during your session.
